02. Yandro's Inn

Gyrax ruffles up a bit in alarm as she notices the kobold on the floor. Hopping off the seat, she pokes at his shoulder with a claw. "You okay, mister?" she asks with concern. Obviously confusing his plight for some sort of illness, she attempts to Lay On Hands on him.

ooc Before I roll, to be honest, I'm not even sure if it's a power that can be used outside of combat. I had to learn the game by buying the books and plowing through them, and never got around to figuring out Standard, Move and Minor actions outside of combat, specially those labeled Encounter.

OOC: A combat is said to last 5 minutes (though we all know it can take hours!). So, an encounter power basically has a "5 minute cooldown"

You certainly can use Lay on Hands outside of combat, up to twice in a five minute period, since you can use it twice per encounter. It will still deduct a healing surge though, so keep track of that!

ooc Heheh. Forgot I did not need to roll for Lay On Hands. On a side note, Gyrax has the Healing Hands feat, which means her target would also acquire +5 extra hp for her Charisma. Not that it's relevant right now, because Koraph is not really hurt, but yeah.

Silk fishes out five silver coins and places them in front of the Banshrae. "Thank you, Juluka." He turns to xivort. "I believe he is insane. Not enough meat to warrant a meal, or else I wouldn't have had to bother you two. Yehehehe!" He digs into the stew and nods at the bartender. "Much better then crazy kobold. My compliments."

OOC: Ooh, good to know Gyrax!

The bartender sweeps the payment and tip off of the counter, nods, and grunts at Silk in thanks.

The Xivort walks across the counter to the kobold. He squats down until he is at eye level and says "Hey!! Is you insane?"

Cyrus turns to Gyrax, still holding the orb. "Is he a friend of yours, Miss Harpy?"

Gyrax shakes her head. "Oh, no. I barely even know him. I just know he's Koraph the Mad. Master of flogging, keeper of ancient raccoonian knowledge, follower of the blue chicken and purple fish, official union leader for kobolds don't go down holes (KDGDH), which sounds kind of prudish of them if you ask me, and kinda surprising when lead by someone who is Master of Flogging. Also, he doesn't like to be hugged, just to give you a heads-up."

"... seriously, he's all of that? Wow, and here I'm just a sorcerer who used to be a-" He stopped himself, recalling that humans weren't common around these parts. "... a guy who had skin and organs. And don't tell Silk this, but back when I had skin, I totally had an awesome ass."

Silk snorts at 'raccoonian knowledge'. That sounded much closer then what Koraph had claimed. He had little interest in the kobolds psychotic fit. He was useful to get in the door but had so far been disappointing as an asset. The harpy and the skeleton had much more potential. Paladins were good at distracting a bothersome enemy and a comrade who could be stabbed through the gut without being wounded was interesting to say the least. He clutched the raven's head pendant. So far his goddess had made no displeasure known. He felt that Cyrus was telling the truth.

Koraph Sees the Orb shoot out of the illusioned sand, and float above his head. He Quickly Reached out and and snapped it out of the air(Cyrus's hands). Everything turned back to normal for the kobold, he took a few steps back, his eyes darting around the room to make sure it was where he was last and sighed in relief. He slowly inches back up onto his seat at the bar, and turns towards everybody. He humbley bows, "I's sorrys, I..." *the short stature kobold is sobbing, he has a weird crying/smiling look upon his face, it's hard to distinguish what emotion he's trying to convey. "I want to do good, so I will stop being punished. This Orb, It's not mine, but I can't get rid of it. I found it a longtime ago, in a pool of blood that surrounded me deep within a cave not far from my old village. I loose myself, if it's not on me." Koraph just sits silently afterwards glancing at everybody, finishing his drink with a worried look upon his face.

Once Koraph had taken the orb, Cyrus lost interest in him and didn't pay much attention to his sob story. He sat back down between Gyrax and Silk. "Barkeep, I'll take a glass of ale.", he said out of habit, forgetting his condition. He took out a gold piece out of his coin pouch, placing it on the counter. "Keep the change."

OOC: Subtracting one gold piece of course.

Silk chuckled. He was looking forward to this spectacle. As the Banshrae poured the drink, the gnoll contemplated Koraph. Insane and delusional. More a hindrance then an asset. Perhaps he should be eliminated...

Koraph sneers at Silk. "I'll show you. I'll show you ALL!" the kobold runs up to his room for the rest of the night, his orb tightly grasped within his hand.

Cyrus chuckles. "What an amusing child..." He then takes a swig of his drink, the liquid going right through his lower jaw, and splashing onto his robes."What the- OH COME ON!" He throws his cup down in frustration, bouncing it off the ground. "Why do I keep forgetting I. DON'T. HAVE. A DIGESTIVE SYSTEM!!?!?!?!?" He panted heavily after his outburst, which is odd since he didn't breathe, then promptly sat back down as if nothing happened.

"Look on the bright side, chew toy. Once you start remembering you'll save a lot of gold on food. Yehehehe!" Silk finished the last of his stew and downed the last gulp of his ale. "Gyrax. Cyrus. I bid you both good night. I'm sure we'll all sleep soundly in the comfort of the cool darkness." He says this as the shadows envelope him once more and he disappears with a fading, "Yehehehe!"

Gyrax looks rather morose. "Poor fellow." she says as the little kobold skitters off. "It must be hard to bear so much responsibility. I mean, trying to live up to the unrealistic expectations of your deity! Devoting the whole of your existence to a lofty goal, sacrificing your sanity, and ultimately your life! Why would anyone want to do that?" she muses, taking a huge bite of pie and chewing noisily.

"Some people do strange things out of need. That kobolds got more problems than a weasel on Weasel Stomping Day. ... You know, if such a day existed." He stood up. "Well, I've had enough of this for one night. I'm going back to me room. G'night, harpy. Nice to know at least you and the gnoll are a tad more sane to work with than some people I know." He chuckled a bit, grabbing his quarter staff and walking back to his room.

ooc Damn. I thought Gyrax was gonna be the team's crazy member, but from the looks of things, she's about average.

Gyrax ends up eating her pie all by her lonesome, which doesn't stop her from gobbling the whole thing down with gusto. Unaware that Cyrus and Silk have already overpaid, she deposits her own two silver coins for her drink and heads over to bed. "See you tomorrow, Master Pelor." she murmurs dozily before drifting off to sleep.

She dreams of rainfall in the jungle. She is perched on a tree, eating a rabbit, and looking at a huge stone monolith shaped like a Mindflayer's skull, so ancient that fig trees grow from the cracks. "Heheh. He looks like Master Cyrus." she decides, for some reason thinking that a poofy hairdo would be fitting on the skeleton. As she sits there eating, a family of huge jungle snakes creep out the bottom of the Mindflayer's skull, completing the illusion of tentacles spawning out of its mouth. Its reptilian heads look like grinning Kobolds, and as their forked tongues taste the air around them, they all murmur... "Come here, pretty chicken! Here, chicken."

Gyrax sits up on her bed and rubs her eyes. Ugh. Too much beer and meat pie. She plops back down.

Silk sits in his dark room polishing his claws. Assassins learned early on to take care of their weapons. Always keep your blade well oiled and never sheathe it without wiping off the blood. A bad blade made a bad assassin. But Silk's blades were his claws. He had made a vow to never use a mundane weapon. All he needed was his hands and a little focus. He had heard of monks that only used their bare hands as well. But they knew special meditation techniques that allowed them to extraordinary things with those bare hands. Like bursting them into flame. Silk longed to discover a way to do this himself. But he was patient. That was the first thing he learned.

And so he polished his claws in the dark, keeping his 'blades' well taken care of. Besides, it made him feel pretty.

OOC: Awesome work guys! Definitely a fun group we have here.
