Gyrax collapses to her knees, breathing hard. "Can we... take a prayer break?" she asks weakly.

"Yes, that fight was more mentally exhausting for me then physically..." Cyrus states, sighing softly as he ran a hand through his FABULOUS hair.

"I must admit to being rather disappointed." Silk sighed. "We should search the bodies. Perhaps they have something useful."

Despite already obtaining the majority vote, the birdie looks over to Caex for her approval. She is their guide, after all, so she opens her big baby bird eyes pleadingly at her for a chance to rest up before continuing. @_@

Caex sits down and licks her paws. It's evident that she isn't going anywhere until she has to. Part cat, and all.

Cyrus: you find a half eaten banana. Or maybe he is just happy to see you? No, definitely a banana.

Cyrus blinks, looking at the banana. "... I'm not even going to bother seeing if this is a magic banana." he said before tossing it into the corner.

Gyrax sits gratefully next to Caex and scratches her head as she mumbles a few prayers to heal herself with. She smiles at Cyrus. "Did you just disarm that banana peel trap? Neat work! I was worried about what we were gonna do about traps now that we lost our kobold!" No. She's not kidding.


Do we go back to full hit points and/or surges upon advancing a level, or do we still need to heal ourselves?

Cyrus blinked, looking at Gyrax in befuddlement. "Um... well... yeah, no problem. Didn't even try to disarm it, wasn't that hard." he said.

Full HP for everyone!

Feeling fully recovered, Gyrax does some snooping of her own.

As the others searched the bodies, Silk quietly fumed. His kill was stolen from him, but he blamed himself more than the tin man. He had given his target distance and that allowed him a modicum of protection.

His shadow step was too limited. That was the problem. But what to do?

Perhaps the scroll would have an answer?

As the others rested, he pulled out the scroll and perused the writing. He doubted very much that he would find anything specific but any scrap could help.

Cyrus would take note of Silk's mood, walking over to the gnoll. "Is something the matter, Sir Silk?" he asked, peeking over his shoulder.

"Merely irritated, chew toy. I am hoping that this can- Aha!" He ignored the skeleton as he read what he had found. "I see."

It was merely a simple technique to push the body passed it's limits for a single, devastating, attack. But it was dangerous to do too much.

All he needed was a focus. A way to pinpoint exactly where to attack the enemy. Naturally he could use his shrouds for that. With that focus, you cleared everything else from your mind. Simple enough for an assassin that could lie in wait, without moving, for hours.

The scroll continued on with physical limits and whatnot, but Silk no longer needed. He wasn't using his physical body, but his spectral shadow. He needed practice.

A sly grin played across his face. "Cyrus, would you mind helping me?" His predatory smile gleamed.

"I might regret this, but... sure. I'll help. Just keep those teeth to yourself! This chew toy bites back!"

"Stand over there." Silk pointed across the room. "Just on the other side of that corpse."

He focused a shroud on the skeleton. It's shadow clinging to his robes, pointing out a weak spot on his spine.

"Ready?"

He stands where directed, looking at the shadow. "Awww, it's kinda cute..." he said, poking at it. "Alright, just get it over with."

Silk narrows his eyes. "I suggest you find something to distract yourself as this may take a while. Just don't move."

The most difficult part of this attack wouldn't be the distance of the shadow step, but leaping into his own shadow.

He had never done that before.

He could get a boost of distance from a dying enemy's shadow but this was something different.

Calming his mind, he focused on the shroud. And then tried to shadow step.

Nothing happened.

And nothing happened the next few times, either. But he didn't give up, or get discouraged.

Suddenly he disappeared in smoky darkness but reappeared exactly where he was. A grin spread across his face. Progress.

"Er, Grin, if I may offer a suggestion of some sort?" Cyrus said, raising a bony finger.

Silk snarled softly at the interruption but gave no objection to advice.

"Well, earlier, you had infused all of us with your shadow...ness so that we may stealth about the area better." he reminded Silk, twiddling his fingers to resemble foot steps. Skeleton foot steps.

"Perhaps I can return the favor and infuse some arcana into you in hopes that it will help you improve upon this little endeavor of yours?"

"I've not seen you teleport, chew toy. How do you think this will help?" His disdain for assistance clearly written upon his face.

"It's true teleportation is not my forte, but I'm merely suggesting a slight... boost in power. Merely a thought. That, or we can try to see if Gyrax can pray to her deity and see if he or she can help.", he joked.
