A disgusted look crossed his snout. "I somehow doubt a... sun god," He said the words with disdain. "Would bother helping me travel through the shadowfell." He sighed. "Let me try once more and I will give your idea a chance."

He once again focused himself on the shroud and stepped.

Going nowhere.

"Alright. Fine. Let's try it. What would you have me do?"

"Truthfully, the only suggestion I had was lay my hands on you, start pumping arcane energy into you and pray to MY deity that it doesn't outright kill you! Hmmm..." Cyrus then turned his head towards one of Silk's shrouds. "Or... perhaps one of these things may be a better idea to focus my attention on..."

OOC: Should I roll Arcana, o wise M of D, to pump some arcanie goodness into one of Silk's shrouds to see what happens?

"I don't think that would be a good idea, chew toy. A shroud is merely a focus. Although I'm hesitant to allow you to just 'pump power into me and hope I don't die'. Yehehehe!"

"Perhaps we're going about this the wrong way. My problem is that I have never used my own shadow to step before. It is nearly impossible to step into a thing that disappears as you go through it. Try focusing your power into my shadow, that may work."

"Your shadow?" he said, then looked down at his shadow. "Oh, right. Okay... here goes something!" he said, his eyes sockets glowing red, as did his bony hands.

Gyrax: you find a dual set of 6 sided dice. They are made out some large molars that have had the numbers carved in Common into the worn sides.

Silk and Cyrus: You smell the distinct scent of burning fur, and Silk's left arm gets suddenly warm before both the sensation and smell disappear. However, beyond that, everything else seems to have worked according to your plan.

"Hmmmm.... well, you're not dead. Why not try it out this time?" he said, a smug grin on his features.

"If any of my fur is singed then I will rip you apart, chew toy." He growled. But he walked back to where he was standing before, putting a fresh shroud on Cyrus just to be sure.

Focusing on it, he stepped.

He reappears behind Cyrus, claws at the base of his skull, only to step away once more to Gyrax.

A grin slid across his face. "That was impressive."

"Watch the claws, pooch, or it's the rolled newspaper for you." Cyrus said, making his way with Silk back towards Gyrax.

Arcana is not Gyrax's forte either, and she gets lost in the trail of geekiness as Cyrus and Silk discuss their strategy. She instead focuses on the set of dice she found. "Talismans to lady luck Avandra. Hope she won't find it pandering of me to carry her emblem." she tells herself as she pockets the dice. She then blinks as she watches Silk vanish and reappear next to Cyrus. "Oh, my!" she says, duly impressed. "Haven't seen that trick in awhile! Are you sure you're not part Blink Dog, Sir Silk?"

Gyrax also took the time in there somewhere to check and see if the dice have any special religious blessing on them. She rolls them.

1st Roll, 2d6, just to see what comes out

2nd roll +5 religion to make a diagnosis.


EDIT: Damn! I was hoping I would get a pair of ones. "Aha! Snake Eyes! That's what you get for worshipping Zehir, ya sillies!"

It appears that these dice were used to pass the time between the guards, most likely for gambling. While Avandra may smile upon their holder when they are rolled, they hold no other spiritual or religious significance.

Gyrax rises to her feet and stretches her wings. "Shall we be off then?"

"Hold on. Have all the bodies been searched? And more importantly, do any of them look delicious? Yehehehe!"

"We'd have to eat and run, sir Silk." she says, examining the buffet. "It's very annoying. No time to cast blessings on them. No time to marinate them..."

"I'm glad I don't have to eat" seeker said as he watched the exchange

"Either way, we should search them all."
