01. Finding the Sword

"I am Greeshtan. For what reason do you come to this guild? We are simple artisans, commissioned to make art for those who pay."

"Oh! Excellent, excellent... see, I ca to this guild because I heard there was a powerful sorcerer here! And I wish to see him or her. Do you, per chance, have one of those?" He smiled, clasping his hands together as he seemed rather eager.

Koraph backs away slowly from the gnoll, I am quite sorry, but no offence I don't think you could afford my services. I charge 150g, 25g just to tell you what I do. He turns back to the Orc and scratches his head, "I do beleve the answer is the castles shadow."

Silk - Koraph


The orc grumbles at the kobold. "Teamwork on riddles is generally not aloud but I'll let you and yer puppdy dog through. I don't know nuttin about any "henchman" services though."

"Jango! Take these two inside," he yells to the dog. "You follow him, he'll take ya to the courtyard. Maybe Greeshtan would likes a speak with ya."


Cyrus

The lizardman narrows his eyes. "What business would you have with a sorcerer, assuming that there were one here?"

As they followed the dog to the courtyard, Silk turns to Koraph. "My name is Silk, little lizard, and I like you." He looks forward once more. "I've always had fondness for snacks that bite back. Yehehehe!"

"My reason for seeing a sorcerer? Hmmm, well, let me put it this way." He motioned his hand over his body. "This? This wasn't always like this. I wish to undo this."

Greeshtan grunts. "The fact that my krenshar hasn't eaten you yet may be because you have no flesh to consume. But I think its for a different reason." He pats his leg and the feline retreats to his side, its skin falling back down onto its bone face. "I tell you what. You go to the inn and see Yandro, let her know Greeshtan sent you, and she will let you board for free. You will stay there until I summon for you, though you may wander the guild grounds at your leisure."

The lizard then steps forward, letting his hot breath onto Cyrus' face. "But don't make me regret letting you stay here, you got it? And don't cause any trouble or I'll let my boy here know you're nothing more than a chew toy afterall." With that, he retreats back to whence he came. The krenshar hissed once more before following its master.

Greeshtan couldn't quite see it, but Cyrus did seem a tad intimidated. He left, heading towards the inn to see out this Yandro lady, muttering to himself."Stupid cat... stupid lizardman... I hope this Yandro broad is easier to deal with." He stepped inside, glancing around for anyone that possibly looked like they work here.

The kobolds eyes widened looking at jango, "Nnnnnn...ice jango. Good Jango!" koraph wasn't too sure at what he was getting himself into but he followed in fear of becoming either a dinner, or a chew toy.

"Brave Gyrax was a harpy bold.
A dauntless bane of Evil!
Through hill and dale, her tale was told

"T'was ne'er a wight she would not smite
One look, and you were smitten!

"Her eyes were flint. Her talons steel.
Her long legs firm and shapely.
Her arse a peach. Her rack quite real
Her sweet voice... um... syrup, maple-y!

"She took her vorpal sword in hand.
And at her God's request, she quests
Uncharted sea and foreign land.
For those who'd lay tyrants to rest."

The paladin flashed a toothy smile to herself. She had composed that little ditty on the fly, but it didn't sound half bad. True, she may have stretched out the facts a little, but a warrior's song is her resume, and it was expected of people to lie a little bit on their resume.

Approaching the door to the guild, she preened the scales on her armor as best she could, and blew into her hand to test her breath. Hrm... maybe she shouldn't sing after all. Stepping up to the doorframe, she knocked as hard on the wood as she could. Gotta make a good first impression! Which she did. All over the woodwork.

Cyrus

The first person you see is an elderly looking Oni woman. She is stroking a large toad like a cat on her lap. The toad does not look pleased at all with his present situation.


Koraph/Silk

The dog leads you both to the center courtyard of the guild. You see before you many races dances and drinking heavily of some wine. Throughout the courtyard are easels erected, with painters busy with a canvas laid upon it. A few others are sculpting massive pieces out of marble and other stones.

A Xivort, obviously three sheets to the wind, comes up to you as the dog retreats back to his master. "How much fur your kitty?" He asks the kobold, reaching out to stroke the gnoll he refers to on the leg.


Gyrax

The old orc jumps at the sound of the wood being hit. "Gracious me, ma'am, but boy ya have an arm!" He scratches himself impolitely on the behind before continuing. "What's yer business round here?"

Cyrus looked to the unhappy toad, feeling quite bad for him. He used to have an aunt that used to pet him and hold him in her lap when he was a wee lad. She died when his village was destroyed. ... She won't be missed. Cyrus walked up to the counter, looking to the old oni. "Pardon me, miss, but might you be Yandro?"

"HUH?" the Oni looks up at Cyrus and cups her had behind her ear. "You're going to have to speak up, lad."

Cyrus sighed, shaking his head. Perhaps this was a glimpse of his own personal hell? He took a deep breath, then yelled. "I SAID I'M LOOKING FOR SOMEONE NAMED YANDRO! ARE YOU HER?"

In the blink of an eye the gnoll sinks into the xivorts shadow and leaps out of Koraph's, away from the offending drunkard.

"Do. Not. Touch. The. Fur." He growls. "Can you inform us of where we can find a 'Greeshtan'?"

Cyrus

"Yes, I am Yandro. Who wants to know?" Her eyes glowed a little at him, and it looked like she was contemplating eating him before he got to answer.

Silk

The Xivort recoils at the sudden movement. He then yells at Silk, "Greeshtan, Greeshtan, Greeshtan! It's allllways about Greeshtan! No one cares about Zibbebewa!" He crosses his arms and sits on the ground, pouting.

He leaned on the counter a bit, holding his staff in his other hand. "Gree-" He decided to speak up. "GREEHSTAN SENT ME. I AM TO REMAIN HERE UNTIL HE SUMMONS ME." He could tell she looked hungry. He then glanced to the toad, wondering if she would suddenly snack on it.

"Well that's not true. I could care about you." Silk grins his sharp grin once more. "You could be delicious! Yehehehe!"

The smile fades quickly. "Now tell us where Greeshtan is before I find out for sure."

Cyrus

"Ahh yes, Greeshtan. Fine, fine, you can have a room. I have all of this extra room and money, of course I can lend it out to a complete stranger at no charge. Lizardfolk never did understand the meaning of money..."

She trails off, realizing she had been rambling. She hands Cyrus a key, attached to a dried toads leg. "First room on left at the top of the stairs." She goes back to petting the still living toad, licking her lips.

Silk

Zibbebewa swindles down more liquid courage before rising back to his feet. He puffs up his chest as much as he can and shakes his finger at the gnoll. "I don't like you but I will give you some advice kitty kat. Greeshtan does NOT like to be pushed around." With that he grunts and goes to find more wine.

"Yehehehe." Silk giggles as he watches the ugly drunk stumble away. "I'm going to have fun with that one..." He looks down at the kobold. "Any ideas, snack?"

Cyrus looks at the dried toad leg attached to the key, tilting his head, then glancing to the toad out of pity. He began to head up to his room, using said key to unlock his room's door, and proceeds to enter. "I hope this leg didn't belong to a relative..." he said as he thought back tot he poor toad.

Gyrax beamed proudly at the compliment. "Two arms! Each one more powerful than the last!" she boasts with a quasi-threatening pout. "I would gladly place both at your service, however, to state my business." The harpy bowed low, despite her heavy armor.

Cyrus

OOC: Now that you have the hotel, and must wait to be called, your story is on pause.

Gyrax

"Hrm..." the old orc looked the harpy up and down. "Oh, I suppose you can go through. BUT! You must answer my question. Until I am measured, I am not known. Yet how you miss me, When I have flown. What am I?"

He crosses his arms and leans up against the wall smugly.

Gyrax hmms, rubbing at her chin with a talon, pondering for a few minutes. "Oooh! I know! You're an orc!" she says triumphantly. "Well, either that, or you're Time, and it wasn't a trick question." she adds quickly. Her toothy smile looks sheepish at this point.
